Korina Sanchez addresses absence from TV Patrol

Rumors about Korina being suspended from ABS-CBN after lambasing CNN anchor Anderson Cooper made rounds on social networking sites last week and during the weekend. It can be recalled that Cooper made his report that there was "no government presence" in the ravaged-city of Tacloban. Korina on the other hand reacted during her show in her air-conditioned room saying, "Cooper doesn't know what he's saying."

But despite the "mambo jumbo" situation and the speculation that Korina was suspended, the top newscaster of the ABS-CBN finally broke her silence.

"Marami kasing spekulasyon bakit wala ako sa studio last week. Ang spekulasyon hindi naman totoo 'yan. Matagal na kasing naka-schedule ang 'Rated K' na iikot sa iba't-ibang nasalanta ng delubyo. Ito ay trabaho," she told dzMM on Tuesday, November 19.

(There were many speculations as to why I wasn't here in the studio last week. The speculations weren't true. Rated K has been scheduled to visit the areas affected by the typhoon. This is work, she told dzMM on Tuesday, November 19.

The veteran reporter vows to return to her shows as soon as she's done with other stuff in her itinerary. 

"Tatapusin ko lang ito, babalik din ako diyan. Inaayos ko lang itong for airing namin sa darating na Sunday.”

(I'm just going to finish this, and I will be back. I'm just fixing everything because it will be aired this coming Sunday.)

"Uulitin ko lang -- matagal nang nakaplano itong paglilibot na ito. 'Wag lang sanang pilit kinokonekta sa ibang bagay, ha? Pahingi na lang ng donasyon.”

I'll just reiterate - this visit has been already planned in the past. Don't connect this to other things, huh? Just give me donations, she added.

Korina Sanchez suspended from her shows after lambasting Anderson Cooper of CNN

After the controversial criticism of ABS-CBN news anchor Korina Sanchez to CNN correspondent Anderson Cooper about his report that there was no "government presence" in Tacloban City and in other affected areas, Cooper retaliated by challenging the wife of DILG Secretary Mar Roxas to leave the premise of her air-conditioned room and report at the ground zero herself. 

"Since she's the wife of DILG Mar Roxas, her husband can surely arrange a flight for her," Cooper said.

Korina is noticeably missing in action from the primetime news program since Thursday, November 14. 

People are starting to question whether Korina was suspended from TV Patrol, or probably took a time off to relax and to let the flame died down.

While Cooper was defended by CNN and other people across the globe, the Philippine news anchor compatriots didn't side with her.

They said that Cooper made his report exactly where Yolanda landed, and had the chance to talk to the people who experienced the typhoon's wrath. As for Korina, she's just telling the people in her shows what she sees on TV, and she wasn't even there in the first place.

or her “unguided” remarks against Cooper, reports say, Korina had been suspended. While her official reason was that she took a vacation leave, it seemed not a valid excuse. What journalist could choose a time like the Yolanda tragedy for a vacation leave? Certainly not a broadcast journalist of her caliber.

It seemed that with international attention she was getting for her controversial remarks against Cooper, Korina should go mute for a while.

But if this is true—and this will be confirmed in upcoming newscasts—is her “suspension” justified?

ABS-CBN has still no word whether the suspension is true.
