Rumors about the death of five-time Grammy award winner Celine Dion, who popularized the songs "Because you love me" and "My heart will go on" from the movie Titanic, is circulating like bushfire in social networking sites.
The rumors came in two different versions. The first version says that Dion died in a car crash, while the other version says the singer died in a plane crash. Both rumors claimed to have footage of the accident.
Snopes.com however has its own findings, claiming the rumors nothing but a hoax: “No such tragic fate has befallen the popular singer, however. Not only are the accounts of her death a hoax, but those reports are being spread by a malicious Facebook app. When users are tricked into clicking through on these fake ‘R.I.P Celine Dion’ posts to see the promised news videos, they end up installing a rogue app that posts the same very thing to other Facebook pages in their name.”
But people turned to social media sites Twitter and Facebook to confirm from friends whether the reports about the diva are true. Although people were skeptical, thanks to other fake rumors about the deaths of Jackie Chan and John Cena to name a few, some wanted to be absolutely sure. What's showing is actually rogue Facebook apps that most people consider as virus. We're guessing it actually is.
