One of the world's most popular brands, Coca Cola, decided to stop their exposure on TV. The popular beverage will halt all future advertisements for the time being to help Yolanda-stricken areas of Visayas.
Coca-Cola Philippines has announced that it will be suspending all advertisements for all its brands via all media channels “from November 18 until further notice.”
“Any committed advertising space will be redirected to the relief and rebuilding efforts for the people in Visayas,” Coca-Cola’s statement on Tuesday read.
Yolanda (Haiynan) heavily devastated Central Philippines on November 8, 2013 and killed at least 4,000 people. The said typhoon, a category 5, the strongest category, was the strongest ever typhoon to make a landfall in world's recorded history.
Coca-Cola said the move intends to rechannel its capacity to “extend aid and demonstrate our commitment to uplift the lives of the people in the affected communities.”
The money supposed to be for their advertising will be saved, and will be used to help the victims.
Coca-Cola pledged to give $2.5 million in cash to help relief operations.
“We will make certain that the Coca-Cola system in the Philippines is mobilized to help however we can,” Coca-Cola said.
