For some, virginity is sacred. It is one of the most precious gifts a woman can give to her man after marriage. However, not all people are into that idea anymore. With the worsening economy in some parts of the world, some deem that selling their "precious" is the only choice left with no sweat.
One such example is Siberian teenager known as "Shatuniha" who just auctioned her virginity online for a hefty sum.
According to a Huffington Post translation from the Russian Auction website 24au.ru., "Money is urgently needed, so I am selling the most treasured thing," the 18-year-old wrote.
Shatuniha said she's willing to meet the next day. "I can come to a hotel at Predmostnaya [Square] with a certificate proving my innocence," she said.
The auction with an initial 800,000 rubble ($24,600) price tag posted on October 30, rose to 900,000 rubbles, or about $27,700 when someone bid to deflower her the following day.
And just like some lawmakers, Shatuniha appears to have this so called impunity. According to Russian police in Krasnoyarsk, the teen broke no laws as reported by The Siberian Times.
"[We have] no right to give a moral assessment of the girl's actions," officials said.
