23-year-old Gabriela Penalba was set on fire by one of her male students. According to WATE, Penalba turned her back to her class on Monday morning last week at West High School in Knoxville when her 15-year-old male student used a lighter to set her hair and shirt ablaze.
Penalba could have suffered burns had it not for her students quick thinking of putting the fire out.
The male student quickly threw the lighter out the window and fled before being captured by the police.
The student faces aggravated assault and evading arrest charges.
His name has not been released because he's a minor and has not been charged as an adult.
