Being intoxicated shouldn't be an excuse for someone to harass, shout and spit at anyone. This is a lesson learned by a Chinese national who stayed at a hotel in Butuan and was caught on video spitting at the hotel receptionist and allegedly shouting at the victim.
But the hotel staff whose identity was withheld didn't ignore Meng Guilin's abuses. Instead, he immediately filed charges against the suspect.
The foreigner could be facing charges of slander by deed, serious resistance and disobedience to an agent in authority. He will also be charged for violating the liquor ban in accordance to the recently concluded barangay election.
Chinese tourists were plagued with negative comments recently from various nationals across the globe. Some of them were labeled as having an "uncivilised beahavior" due to their nose picking in public, urinating in pools, and stealing airline life-jackets.
It can recalled that in May of this year, a Chinese boy carved his name in an Egyptian temple. Then there's the Chinese woman who in February, had her son relieved himself in a bottle at a crowded restaurant in Hongkong. According to the handbook written for Chinese tourists: “To protect China’s image overseas, Chinese tourists must behave better while traveling abroad.”
Meanwhile, the suspect was apprehended by the police. He refused to comment on the issue.
