Rev. Ceejay Agbayani of Christian Church Inc. officiated a same-sex marriage of Marcel Hampac (groom) and Maria Cecilia Lumor (bride) in Lucena City, Quezon.
Their photos including the one holding the bible were published and reported on Yahoo News Philippines, showing a typical Philippine wedding.
But most netizens aren't that supportive of the two. Their marriage as well as the pastor who officiated the ceremony were being bashed, calling the act done as blasphemy and immoral.

Another commenter said, Yahoo say Filipinos are generallly tolerant toward homosexuals. That is a general statement that may be true but only in the entertainment industry. Most Filipinos still reject same sex relationship much more same sex marriage. Why? because it is against the natural law of God. God hates homosexual acts(not the homosexuals per se) it clearly stated in the bible. You media people please don't condition the minds of the people otherwise we will accuse you of being a minion of Satan, spreading deception to society.
In a predominantly Catholic nation such as the Philippines, same-sex marriage is illegal. It is being frowned upon and considered taboo by the church and the government. Those who obtained certificates and were able to walk down the aisle were married outside the country that recognized such union.
And although somewhat tolerant of LGBT, majority of Filipinos are still uncertain in the level of acceptance they can give to same-sex marriage.
